Linocut and Monotypes on Paper, 2020

This series was an investigation of mushroom spore and seaweed forms. The spores have the ability to absorb crude oil spilled in the oceans, and are said to cover one third of the earth’s underground, and are an integral part of our world forest ecosystems. Seaweeds and kelp also have healing properties and their health is important for both the wellbeing of humans, animals including sea life and our oceans.

The patterns and networks they created were visually intriguing, but the spores that connect and hold our ecosystem together, reinforced my belief that we are all connected and woven together.
